Kids These Days

Many of you have probably heard of the IMF/World Bank meetings in the past and possibly the one that begins tomorrow in Washington DC. Or more accurately, you have probably heard about the idiots who will be protesting there. Many people do not understand what the IMF or World Bank are, why anybody wants to protest them, etc... Let me try to give you a little background on the matter so you can see what a bunch of boneheads the morons down there whining are.

Let us begin by looking at the World Bank. The world Bank was established in 1944 to provide aid to developing countries fight poverty and establish economic growth that is stable, sustainable, and equitable. Not a bad idea, huh???? So, how do they do this? They provide monetary relief through loans, grants and cofinancing and guarantees. Think of it like you are somebody with nothing and no knowledge of how to do anything. You go to the somebody to borrow money to learn and develop. This is the same situation. These third world countries get money, which can be used for just about anything that can reasonably be expected to result in a sufficient return to keep the Bank going. Wouldn't it be nice if we had this option???? So, the World Bank demands to know WHAT the country is going to do with the money. If they are going just dig a giant pit, the bank isn't going to get the money back. In so asking, they also give advice and help with execution of the plan that the loan is contingent upon. They want their money back, so they watch to see what is going on. Makes sense to me. The IMF, or International Monetary Fund is basically the economic vehicle through which this is accomplished.

So, hopefully that clears the issue up for some people. Now, let's turn to the protestors, miserable human beings that they are. Basically, they are pissed because nobody is just giving these countries as much money as they need. They IGNORE the fact that many of the same countries who contribute to the Fund also give direct aid and aid through the UN, but they feel that the loans through these mechanisms should be grants, with no strings attached. They are generally anarchists and socialists who have no concept of work or accomplishment. Almost invariably, in research into their lives, they come from either wealthy parents who have supported them financially and have never worked a day in their lives or losers who could never accomplish anything and can't accept responsibility for that. So, they go around protesting "Global Capitalism"..... They espouse the virtues of socialism (we all know how successful that has been throughout history), claiming that anybody who is not with them is basically evil. In general, if they can't yell it in one breath or put it on a sign, they can't say it. Very few have any understanding of the realities of the systems of economics and such. What do they really support? Who knows. How would their system work? They can't say. Basically, feel free to laugh at them. They are worthless people who have no value for society. That's it. Thank you for your time.

Sometimes I think the world has gone completely mad. And then I think, "Aw, who cares?" And then I think, "Hey, what's for supper?"
