Week One Recap
Puddins Pugilists - 40
Touch It! - 77
Even with McNabb left on Monday night, this one was out of reach for the Pugilists. Sub-par performances by Harrison and Baltimore's D were the real story here. McNabb was expected to struggle against the tough Tampa Bay D, but two points? Better pick it up next week. The Giants stellar defensive output was obviously aided by Warner's concussion, but the outstanding efforts by Hines Ward and Travis Henry still had Touch It! in a great position. Look for Ward to keep these kinds of numbers throughout the season.
The Unmutuals - 30
Mamas Boys II - 77
While the Mamas Boys tied for Week (and season) high with this 77 point performance, it was very uneven. Five guys in double digits, but four more with either 0 or 1 point. Could be good, could be bad. Tampay Bay's D picked up right where it left off last season and Daunte appears ready to improve on last year's sporadic campaign. Portis had another great game, but the other running back position could cause some problems for the Boys down the road. The Unmutuals find themselves with the low total for the Week (and the season). They shouldn't worry about this one. Peyton isn't going to have many weeks where he doesn't get any points and Williams is solid, while Coles and Ramsey appear to have some good chemistry and Keyshawn should reach the end zone more this season. Look out for Shockey off-the-field though. He may wind up missing some games due to his extracurricular activities.
The PingPong Paddles - 37
the christ punchers
This one could be compared to the fabled pitcher's duel (don't ya love mixing sports metaphors?). Plummer didn't pay dividends at QB, but he has alwasy been sporadic, making it tough to pull him. His flashes of brilliance might be enough to keep him in the lineup for the Paddles. Mason and Johnson made it into double digits, but Faulk and Dillon were quite disappointing. An odd week for the Paddles. Might be one to forget about. the christ punchers squeak by for the victory this week, although two losers would have beaten them. An excellent strategic performance. Scoring was fairly even, with McNair providing just enough extra punch at QB.
Da Pooh Bears - 51
Dewey Devils - 47
Only three points kept the Devils from victory in this nail-biter, but Priest showed up again, pushing Da Bears over the top. Along with Priest, Vanderjagt had a solid performance, but they need more from Tony Gonzalez and Terrell Owens as the season progresses. The Devils had some problems at the running back position, with #1 pick LaDainian Tomlinson providing only two points. Randy Moss came out with 13 and Carolina's defense put up 12, a good sign for this team. Driver went down with an injury which hurts, but not too much.
Chkn Burrito Ultimo - 63
Team X - 57
Another close one, Burrito's running back corps of Shaun Alexander and Ahman Green provided enough power, combining for 32 points, to give them the edge. Favre needs to take his meds, cause 4 points ain't gonna cut it. Miami's D appeared weak against Houston's VERY weak offense, something to watch. Team X had a nice week, all around. Warner was playing with pea soup in his head, so his sub-par showing is understandable. Look for Holt to carry this team.
Week Two Recap
Puddins Pugilists - 53
The Unmutuals - 66
A sense of doom is creeping in for the Pugilists.... With McNabb, the team's number one pick scoring NEGATIVE three points this week, things do not look promising. Baltimore's defense finally showed up.... but it was Cleveland they were playing against. Alge Crumpler continues to produce out of the TE position, much to the chagrin of Mr. Brady. Tough to see this team going anywhere fast. The Unmutuals didn't have a great week, but it was certainly enough to beat the Pugilists. Lav Coles and Ricky Williams both put together solid performances, while Philly's D again did nothing, leading to the dismissal of their services. Peyton stepped it up a bit as well, while First Week superstud Anquan Boldin returned to his expected form.
Touch It! - 70
Team X - 48
Robinson sat this one out but Collins, Big Moe Williams, The Edge and New York's D all scored in double digits to push Touch It! to victory once again. Pollard put up a donut and hometown boy Travis Taylor only scored one point. Look for Mr. Hines Ward to put on a show in the coming weeks. Team X is still foundering a bit, looking for their legs. That crazy kicker Sebastian J had a solid game and Torry Holt played to his potential, but Kelly Holcomb once again underperformed and Jerry Rice and Tiki had subpar games. What to do about Trung?
The PingPong Paddles - 56
Mamas Boys II - 41
A consistent showing allowed the Paddles to pull this one out. Even with Gannon only getting two points, 7 or more were attained by Faulk, C Dillon, the Sharpester, Carney and Pitt's D. Bruce should have had a TD in this one. The Mamas Boys had some problems this week, pulling poor performances from Peerless, C Bradford, D'Wayne and Jolley. They need more from their skill positions. Culpepper appears to be back up to snuff this season.
Da Pooh Bears - 104
the christ punchers - 72
the christ punchers ran into the Juggernaut known as Da Pooh Bears this week. The 104 performance is far and away the best of the year thus far. Priest and Green Bay's D each had 20 points or more. Vanderjagt had 17. Brooks had 15. Who decided to let women into this league?!?!? Goddamned affirmative action!!! As for the christ punchers, they put together a VERY respectable performance, led by Jamal Lewis's record-setting performance. It wasn't enough however. McNair is hobbling as usual, but he is still doing okay. No points for Heap? Plasphemy!
Chkn Burrito Ultimo - 82
Dewey Devils - 71
Another relatively close one here but the solid performance by the Devils just wasn't enough. Burritoo received nice production from Favre and Ahman Green, which bodes well for this Green Bay reliant team. Plaxico played well as did Jason Elam. Charles Rogers got a bullet. The Devils received a strong showing from Darrell Jackson. One problem there. What about Koren Robinson? Don't want to rely on Jackson, eh? Tomlinson had a bad week, but Bulger was a solid pickup at QB and Moulds had another solid game. Carolina's D played well against TB.
Week Three Recap
Puddins Pugilists - 42
The PingPong Paddles - 35
As expected, this was a low scoring affair, with Puddin pulling it out on Ashley Lelie's Monday night performance. Baltimore's D is also beginning to strut it's stuff. Puddin's top picks have horribly underachieved thus far; just look at Marvin and Green. Horrible. For the Paddles, Faulk and Dillon ran like old ladies and Dallas did nothing. Old reliable Isaac Bruce was decent as was Pitt's D, but that WAS against Cinci. Time to make some roster moves for these two teams?
Touch It! - 44
The Unmutuals - 57
Travis Henry's interception toss encapsulates this week's performance for Touch It!. With the exception of Koren Robinson, who had something to prove, and Adam V, the team was disappointing. Hines had 8, but he is better than that and Trent should have torn up Houston's D. Will Priest taking points from Green become an issue for Touch It!? Stay tuned. The Unmutuals got a decent game from Peyton finally and San Fran's D shut down Cleveland for the most part. Ricky Williams put in his 11, but Emmitt Smith only gave 2. The man is old. You hear me? He's old. Keyshawn got a bullet.
Da Pooh Bears - 61
Mamas Boys II
Will you look at this???? Da Bears are running through this league like cat shit across a linoleum floor. Priest almost reaches 20 again and Mikey V puts up 12. Aaron throws in a decent 9 and Rod G adds his 7. TO and Keenan should produce more as the season wears on. Somebody take her out at the knees. It might be the only way to bring this monster down. The Mamas Boys have a quarterback with a broken back and star running back with a gummed up chest. But they soldier on.... Daunte played through the pain for 14 and TB's threw in their 16. Other than this, last week's pickup Warrick was their top scorer. Scary stuff. Vick's return could mean big things for the Boys.
Chkn Burrito Ultimo - 104
the christ punchers - 72
the christ punchers put together a GREAT week to vault from fifth place to second. Double digits from five players is ALWAYS a good sign. McNair continues to grit it out and put up big numbers, while J-mal continues his great run. Reggie Wayne broke out with 19 points on two scores. Don't look for that every week! Burrito on the other hand, shit in the proverbial bed. Without Miami's D, he would have REALLY been hurting. Favre put up 8 and Elam came through with 7, but other than Favre, the skill position players stunk the joint up. Hopefully, everybody got their bad week out of the way this week and he can move on to bigger and better things.
Dewey Devils - 50
Team X - 36
Tomlinson finally put together a decent game for the Devils and KC's defense did a number on Houston (big shocker there). Bledsoe's -3 could have hurt, but it was okay this week. Moulds is better than 1 point, while Jackson really isn't an 8 point guy. Is the Bus having a resurgence in Pitt? What will this mean for Zereoue? Stay tuned. Mr. Brady has some interesting options here. As for Team X.... well, they are the lone team without a win this season. Holcomb put together a solid performance, but Torry Holt and Joe Horn really need to pick it up along with Tiki. As long as Janikowski doesn't wind up in prison, he'll get up there in points. Atlanta's D had a poor showing against a poor TB offense, but what can you do?
